Hi Guys, Back in time we always used to change the oil regardless of the manufacturing company, now I decided to buy the proper/suitable oil for our car. Here in the country choices of engine oil aren't alot, but the infamous oil companies products are still available.

I have found in the manual that they recommend " Selenia 20K 10W40 multigrade synthetic oil exceeding ACEA A3-96, CCMC G5 and API SJ specifications "

In case I couldn't find it what's suitable as a substitute ? Should I get the replacement oil with the same manufacturing technology (Synthetic Oil) and with the same viscosity rating (multigrade 10W40) and does it have to pa ss the same organizations tests/standards ( Specifications/standards of ACEA , CCMC , API )

Some information on car:

The car has problems burning oil and loss of oil in short periods of time and there is spilled oil all over engine, white smoke from exhaust, maybe the piston rings need to be replaced or what else is responsible ? I heard about Engine Oil Additives which is great for affected engines like mine ? what do you think guys ?

VIN: DAA17800001509093
Design No.: 98802420
Engine No.: M06755545
Engine Type: M 605 WA 13 T 304 1.4 178 SPI HD + KLM(MISIR)
Class of cylinders: BBBB

please help me decide what is suitable for the car :)
thanks in advance

Hi, :)
your car is basically the same as a Palio;
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_Siena

so look for an oil thread in the Palio Section,
in honesty - your engine sounds tired..:(

:idea:and the higher temperatures it will see service in may mean a thicker oil could be beneficial,

the problem is that I lose some of the oil from the engine as a leakage, so when I have to add some compensation oil should I stick with the same oil (same brand) which is inside the engine/sump or can I add another brand with the same specs ?

hey Dear Peter, does Castrol offer fully synthetic or semi synthetic oil, and which is more suitable for my engine ?

Castrol offers both, whatever you want.
But the Edge 0W40 A3/B4 is fully synthetic.

Dear Peter, What about Liqui Moly, Mobil, Total, Shell products, in case I couldn't find Castrol ?

but I heard that those additives are good for bad health engines, some prevent the burning of oil while the others prevent smoke from tailpipe...

they contain zinc, phosphorous, sulfur which when added prevent wear, so they are considered as extra protection and therefor they are effective as anti oxidant, anti wear, anti corrosion inhibitors, they are extremely important to old engines or suffering engines like those with an unhealthy engines like mine

Ah! the power of advertising. A decent oil will already have the required ingredients added/needed. No car manufacturer will advocate such liquids. Well documented subject. There have been court cases. A fool/naive person are parted from their money equating to profit for the makers of such stuff, simple really. Just get into the habit of regular oil & filter changes, far more beneficial to your engine.

thanks alot mate for the information, I never though that these additives have nothing special

thanks god I'm not from those naive people, I always change my oil every 8000 KM or every season, whichever comes first ( I don't drive my car alot, thanks to public transportation :) )

My 2004 FIAT Siena has just 110,000 KM's on the odometer
