Interference non interference is the question for 1.9jtd engine 2003 in doblo

My mates fiat vannete thing high roof was moving slowly and timing belt snapped .

If it is non interference engine its good news

If its interference engine a 2003 car like this is probaly RIP

Looked all the places cant find out is the engine interference or non interference

Hi, it's the BAD news..,:(

closer tolerance engines are NOT safe, so that's the 16Valve petrol engines, and Diesel..

only the basic 8V FIRE petrols are "safe" - but even they CAN have damage issues.

TBH though, for the cost of a belt, you may as well stick one one to see,

It depends which jtd engine it it,the later ones have roller rockers and chances are if it just a light tap you may get away with just replacing the the broken rockers,we have done this with a lot of alfas and gotten away with it.
You just have to take the injectors and cam box off to see but its straight forward enough-get a pic up of the engine.
