I've just started a roofectomy. I'm going to remove repair/replace the whole roof panel as it's in pretty poor condition. We should have it off by tomorrow. The hole in the roof cut by the CI autohomes looks like it was cut with a tin opener. Thought I'd put some photos up to help others if needed.

Ah excellent to see another one heading into restoration. Are you reinstating the pod or stitching metal roof back on?

Yes, I'm going to use the pod off the donor (yellow van) on the red one, as it's in better nick and try and use the red van this year.
The aim then is then is to do a full resto on the donor, then swap the pods back over.
The donor is complete but needs loads of tin work around the bottom and some of the roof. It would be a shame to strip it as it is the more complete of the 2. Still has the original toolkit, un-used.
I am taking the roof panel tomorrow, to the guy who is going to repair or make a new one, not sure which yet. I should have took a photo of the removed roof section, only took some of the mess thats left.

Does anyone know what the offset of the original 13" steel wheel is? I'm looking for alternatives. What have other people fitted to the 900?

Good luck with the roof repairs, I had to do similar repairs to my roof sections but luckily the front and rear sections were in good condition so I only needed to replace the side panels. I used VW type2 repair panels, very close profile to the original and only £35 each side! but seeing as it looks like you are going to replace the whole roof this information is properly of no use to you lol.
As for the offset you could use for the wheels, my van came with Vauxhall wheels that were 100x4 pcd, 5" wide with an offset of et47.5. the rears had 165x70x14 tyres which did not rub, the front tyres were 165x65x14 which rubbed in the inside edge, but with use of a 10mm spacer or a 155x55x14 tyre would work good. hope this helps.

I've been looking at 4x98 wheels. I've got a set of 14" 4x100 BBS wheels lying around off a VW mk1 cabrio, I didn't think they'd fit. I'll give them a go.

The roof has gone to the panel beaters today, what was left of it, with a template of the outside of the gutter. So time will tell.
