Moving on from my fuel gauge problem we are slowly rectifying those small faults that come to light when buying an older vehicle.

In this case, its the interior smell. It honks :yuck:. Smalls like wet dogs have been living in it for a long time.

We whipped the seats out and gave the carpetting a severe going over with the Vax shampooer which raised a huge amount of dirt, followed up by a steamer on the side portions, ditto.

Its getting better but the seats smell badly. Mrs Toodlepip has washed the headrests but now we are left with the seats where the smell is not only in the seat covers but seem to be well down into the foam as well.

Anybody got any remedies please apart from turning a hose on it, and I don't want to take the seats to pieces. I will he having a session with the steamer tomorrow to see what happens but its the body heat you see.

Get in, all reasonably nice, but after a short time we seem to be sitting in a cloud of very wet alsation and it gets into the clothes as well. Heater full on, windows open and it still won't go away.

Help !

Use charcoal, it soaks up smells like a MOFO,
get a bag and place it round the car in tupperwear tubs then leave it over the weekend if possible, it works for clothes and even fridges to get rid of smelly cheese smells,
and funny enough it's what spray painters have in their mask filters, Hopefully might work in your car.
