This question has probably already been asked, but since I'm new, please allow me to ask it again... I have a 1999 MK 2 Uno 1.1, and want to replace the engine with a 1.4 turbo engine, is it advisable, and what modifications do I have to in addition to adding the engine and gearbox, e.g mountings and brackets, and cooling as well as brakes etc? Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Honestly anything can be done but is this worthwhile?

Just buy a turbo Uno job done.

Its easy enough to do, the turbo uno axles and box are stronger to, If you had access to a stacked turbo that would be ideal for all the bits.

If turbos are anything like they are here in NZ they are getting pretty thin on the ground so maybe easy just finding the bits and doing it. I know a guy putting a uno turbo motor in a 128 sport at the moment.

good luck, The uno forum part be the place to ask.

If you look at it from the perspective of just reshelling a turbo then it is worth doing if the 1.1 shell is in good shape.

I am reliably told that every single mounting mount necessary for each variation of the Uno is on every chassis, so in theory you can fit any Uno motor in any Uno shell. The same applies to the suspension and the interior.

Of course you need everything that goes with it as well...

The downside is when it comes to insurance
