I am refitting the flywheel to my 2L twin cam. Is there a right or wrong way up? I have no markings on the flywheel to indicate it to me.

As I recall, all of the 'twink' engines had a mark on the rim of the flywheel that should be at the top when numbers 1 and 4 pistons are at TDC. My Croma 2.0 turbo ie flywheel had the mark.

This diagram is from the 2.0 Spider workshop manual. If your car is not a 2.0 Spider, the torque figure in the diagram text, may not be correct for your engine.

Thanks for response but still can's ee any markings. I have fitted it as shown in the attached picture as it seemed to match your picture you sent with the 1 & 4 at tdc. Any thoughts anyone? What are the implications of of it being fitted this way rather than the other?

There should be a mark, both the flywheels on my 1800 and 2000 TC have a mark on the rim, also a mark on the cover plate mount bolt hole that matches the cover plate.
