Hi all, just asking if there are any 125 owners in the UK, seems i might be part of a select few ??

If so where you based, just in case need to swap info or anything else..

cheers, kevin

There are several 125s. All in good condition and one is raced round Castle Combe regularly! All I know of are within the Fiat Motor Club GB..........

G'Day Kevin
If they are few and far between up your end of the world, spare a thought for us 'down here' in Aus. Not many around at all. I managed to aquire a 1969 125 one owner with 47000 genuine miles. In the process of reupholster, complete mechanical, driveline etc check - so far so good. Trying to identify a code for the paint (maroon) so if you have any clues, I'm all ears.

Don't have one now, but I owned a 125special in the early seventies...........

Great car, and well ahead of its time. The specs. were awesome.!

Well, got engine back in, head backon and all ready to do the timing......

now i need some help here, read the destruction manual, done as it said.

strange this is that it wont start, but if i put the dizzy rotor pointing to No4 lead it tries to start, point it to No1 and no freakin way.

can anyone lend some knowledge on setting it back up after rebiuld.

got the cams lined up( holes lined up with points on thermo housing bracket)
crank marker on TDC, piston 1 and 4 at TDC( i know it should be just No1 but 4 lines up as well)

really need some advice here or if there is any old skool mechanics in the bradford(west yorkshire) with setting up that would like to help me tinker about then please get in touch.

any advice welcome.

thanks

Kevin

Hi Kevin, from memory you should be setting the timing up on No 4 cyl;, ie; the one nearest the firewall. Hope I;m not putting you wrong, but wont take long to check it this way, Gerry

Cheers RVRBOY, yeh it seems to time up better on No4......considering the book says No1....but its all ok now except for a rattling shim i think, only really does under load tho, just on tickover you can hear the cams as in general noise but give it a gulp on the go faster pedal and you can hear it.....especialy driving around as normal.....other thing is when you first start it its really noisy untill the oil gets around a bit, wonder if its oil starved......gonna try and do the shims again ( check em all) after i make a tool and chnage accordingly then gonna use some fully synth oil and see if it quitens down....

if anyone any ideas on the noises these twin cams make as general, let me know ..
