Would it be any problem using a flywheel from a 1300 on an 85s 1500 engine? Will the engine go smooth? Will it give some effect? Is there any diffrence?

Re: flywheel strada 85S

I once fitted the 1500cc engine from an automatic strada into my 128 3p. I used the original 128 4 speed gearbox, but when I mated the two together, I had starter motor problems. I had to first remove the torque converter/flywheel and swap for my 1300 flywheel. However, The flywheel did not sit correctly on the end of the crankshaft. In order to solve the problem, I remember having to have a machinist enlarge the flywheel's central hole, as it was slightly too small to fit onto the end of the 1500cc crank. Once this was done, it was fine though. It may be worth bearing in mind that as my engine came from an automatic strada, I can only assume that the same mod is required on the manual version. I would think the crank would be the same. (Just make sure you get a qualified engineer/machinist to do it accurately of course!) The engine revved for england!

Auto crank is different to the manual crankshaft, the machining on the flywheel end is different to allow fitment of the flexplate, I've run across this several times when building engines for X19's and 128's.

1300 flywheel will fit straight on to the 1500 MANUAL crankshaft.

The 1300 flywheel is designed for the four speed box/starter/clutch combination, if you want to use it in a five speed gearbox, you will need to fit a 1500/5speed ring gear assembly so as to not have starter engagement issues.

vica-versa for a 1500 flywheel into a four speed box, you need to fit the four speed ring gear.
