OK so its not a fiat, but an Inline 4cylinder 8v petrol is an Inline 4cylinder 8v petrol, rite? :p plus i didnt really wanna have to join a citroen forum just for this one Q...

My mums got a citroen berlingo multispace (1.4 8v petrol) 04 reg and shes been complaining that its developed a chugging noise and lack of power. So i took it for a drive this morning...

The chugging seemed to be coming from behind the driver front wing, so i removed the arch liner and theres a charcoal canister hidden up there. it had a hole in the top which i assume is some sort of breather, which, when i put my finger over it, i could feel a fair bit of suction... not sure if thats normal.

I also noticed that when you rev it to around 3k and then let it settle back to idle, it would drop right down to 700 and struggle a bit before pulling itself back up to 900ish, where its stable.

The lack of power is at low revs, when you slow down and drop down a gear to go around a corner- it struggles to pick back up, where usually in the same circumstances it wouldn't. Doesn't seem to be mis-firing tho as far as i could tell. All sparks have just been changed aswell (although these problems began to occur before the sparks were changed.)

Any suggestions?
