If you regularly fill from a dodgy storage tank prone to condensation, then it might be helpful. Otherwise its pretty pointless.

Engine oil bypass filters are a more useful option. They take about 10% of the flow through an ultra fine filter to scrub the sub micron matter out of the oil. Assuming there is no fuel dilution, the oil lasts for much longer, but more importantly so does your engine.

I have seen these used on large mobile plant in the days before they were commonly used. Instead of a weekly oil change, it was simply topped up. Previously, each twin engined monster got through 45 gallons per oil change. Despite good lab test results, we chickened out at three months and changed the oil, but there really was no need.
