My son gets the Motor Industry Magazine and this month there is an article about glow plugs. The feature was written by Tim Howes of NGK and is accompanied by a picture of an NGK liveried technician changing the plugs on a Fiat 500... the spark plugs!

Well you know it's a similar sort of principle to when suzuki sent me a voucher for 20% of the change of my timing belt...on a car with a chain

The marketing people who set these things up are not car people, chances they all have fleet audis...
 
I'm possibly (probably?) missing the point here, but NGK do make glow plugs as well as spark plugs. I've got some in my Panda MJ
 
The article in the MIM magazine was by an NGK person, discussing the glow plugs which they make. Unfortunately the picture accompanying the article showed an NGK tech changing spark plugs, which are quite a bit different!
