Changing a wheel by the side of the road, in the dark, in winter, is a greatly over-rated way of spending time in my opinion.

At least the Golf has a full sized spare (albeit steel rather than alloy) so no 30mph on a space saver shenanigans to worry about once it was fitted.

Found a dirty great screw stuck in the tread of the flat one which was undoubtedly the culprit but the tyre looks repairable - anyone know what that costs these days?

had a screw in my tyre on sunday. space saver doesn't fit over front brakes so have to swap wheels round to fit.

anyway £10 to have it repaired and balanced, also the other side was balanced at the same time.

if it's in the middle of the tread it's fixable, cost me about £8 the other day including balancing.

punctures at back street tyre places go from about £5 upwards, whatever you do DONT go to kwik fit
