Re: bmw 328i coupe

Get top one....my favourite bmw of recent years (other than last m5) with the schnitzer kit on it (although unless the photo is wrong labelled that car has had a very comprehensive M3 lookalike conversion). Bottom one is somehow a bit drug dealer...

Re: bmw 328i coupe

the top one is a complete M3 lookalike, correct

though id much prefer one with the M-tec equipment and suspension as standard, i dunno if i can find a decent one for the money i want to pay for it. Drug dealer cars FTW!

Re: bmw 328i coupe

e36 3series coupe is a great choice, but the e36 interior had dated rather badly. i'd still love one.

Re: bmw 328i coupe

yeah i realised the other day that the 325i was the one to go for.

still want the sport equipment off the 328i though (not sure if the sport specs are the same on both?) including bilstein suspension and a lsd.

very nearly bought one this weekend, but decided to slow down and look for a really good one...

Re: bmw 328i coupe

just be carefull, they have got to the age where we have them in work and they need 500+ spending in parts to pass the mot.

then on the otherhand we get them where they pass fine.

certainly good and bad ones about.

i work with bmws mainly so yeah.

main things they fail mots on are-

rear trailing arm bushes
rear brake pipes
front wishbone rear bush
front ball joints

other than that, they seem to be ok.

my boss has a 1994 325i, its got 240k on it (owned from new) and still running fine, only ever had the usual on engine, rocker cover gasket, coil packs, water pumps, nothing else, never had a wheel bearing go yet.
Thanks Munkul thanked for this post

i wonder how cheeky it would be to go view a car with a little jack tucked under my arm, and check for play in suspension

surely it wont be too expensive for these parts though? mostly labour?

Re: bmw 328i coupe

Well you do get a 4+/ 10+ discount on parts But just ask your uncle what I paid a couple of months ago for my clutch/ flywheel change and that was him being most generous on labour costs IMO AND I was looking at paying out again for clutch slave cylinder and gearbox/ diff oil change Sure labour would be costly if you took it to Lloyds but parts are bad enough. I can also confirm the suspension issues (paid out a few hundred last year for the pleasure of that one), oh and they go through (150 a pop) tyres quite quickly.

Oh the good stuff? They look good, they're fast, they're comfortable, they're safe Fair enough they do look a bit dated but one in mint condition looks really classy. IMO better an original sport than a lookalike M3 - if you want an M3 then wait and buy yourself a real one
Thanks Munkul thanked for this post

not overly expensive no, but when you get a car which needs all of that, plus for instance 4 new tyres, plus front and rear brakes then technically the car is a write off!
