Currently reading:
bmw 328i coupe

the flaps can begin to rattle, and then drop off, sometimes allowing bits to enter the cylinders. removal before failure prevents it from happening.

engine went bang on 320d i know of, luckily replaced under warranty.

Same problem on the 320ds, plus the turbo issue on earlier ones also.

Obviously not a problem for Munkul and his E36 petrol engine :)

122k is nothing on an e36 328. the e36 is the last bmw that was hardcore enough to please real drivers rather than sales execs, and one of the last cars on earth to have styling that uses sharp lines and a boxy shape. the e36 is now so old that tossers no longer own them, so its a bmw without the image problem. all great so far, but then you come to the 2 problems; first is the interior that has aged badly. it looks and feels like an 80s interior imo, and it is the only reason i would not buy an e36. the other issue is rust, finding an e36 that isnt rusty is difficult. there are several areas where rust is a major issue on the e36.

Yes theres a W Reg e36 in my street riddled with rust. My first car (W Reg 1.2 8v Punto is Still 100% rust free! according to its current owner oh and on its original head gasket!!).
