Just driven the new Opel/Vauxhall Corsa which my cousin took delivery of and I have to say what a heap! The one I drove was the 1.2 5dr Club, nice trim level and comfortable seat and driving position - but that's about all that's going for it.

Found there to be no pull in the gears, if you can get it into gear - 3rd was a pig for me. There's little response from the car - not a lot of feedback from the steering and when it does corner it's a little bread-vanny (only way to describe it!).

Coupled with crap indicator stalks, and the monsterous dash, it wasn't at all a great experience - I was very happy getting into the Punto to go home - it's no frills but alteast it's not a pain in the arse like the Corsa!

Cant speak for for the New corsa, but for the Corsa C I had a friend who'd bought an 05 plate and was constantly bragging about how good it was.

So I sat in it, seats were like sitting on a hard chair.

He then proceeded to brag about how good the bass was on the standard stereo, where in actual fact it was **** poor at best.

the GP may have its faults, but when the base model has a decent CD player and speakers as standard, as well as electric windows and mirrors, how can anyone complain that much?

my SXI corsa had a **** stereo :D

this is supposed to be a young chavs car for pumping basehunter out of, instead you got.... weadyhunter :p

my grannies micra designed for classic fm had a way better stereo :p

then i moved to the stilo, which i think one speaker in has the same power as all of them in the corsa ;)

oo you mean basshunter:p

erm...I wrote off my best friends 1.6 turbo VXR the other day....
Went into a corner at 45 (which I normally take at 60+ in my punto) and rolled it :D

Corsa's are easy car's to roll, my brother had one and he rolled it within a few months of buying it and the police men that was there said they'd been to 3 other car's that had been rolled and 2 of them were corsa's!

indeed. The only things easier to roll (that is a cat b vehicle) is a landrover...but that's got 4 wheel drive and is more than 60 years old!!

i like the way everyone is slagging off the new corsa etc, when the GP is effectively the same :ROFLMAO: so it must surely mean either that vauxhall have messed it up completely or people are just slagging it off cos it's a vauxhall lol!

Yeah hahah very funny...

Are you smoking crack?, Yes it shares the same floor plan and basic platform BUT its completely different other wise! so in other words its about 5-10% the same as the GP.

Although GM / vauxhall use Fiat diesels because they cannot build diesel engines for s***, even then they manage to bugger them up using rubbish electronics and dodgy ancillaries

if you check the mechanicals and electrics they're very similar. if i had to choose a percentage, i'd go for 50% the same car, plus most of the differences are only cosmetic.

if you say the corsa is crap then imo you are also saying the GP is crap.

both are built on a revamped gamma platform, so the GP is more vauxhall than the corsa is fiat.

Look more carefully ;). I've got a GP 1.3mjet van AND a Vauxhell 1.3 CDTI (mjet) Corsa van provided buy our fantastic vehicle fleet, open the bonnet and all the components except the engine block its self are different. It even has a different cylinder head (i had a problem with the EGR valve on the vauxhaul) so I had to strip engine cover etc off and gave it a smack with a hammer as it was stuck shut . I was curious about the similarites only to find there are very few. Even Engine ECU's are different.

Can't say about the rest of the internals of the car such as suspension and incar electronics but as far as under bonnet goes its quite different.
