Anyone had one of the 15A Headlight fuses melt along with the holder, its the fuse box near the battery. Headlights work fine, I am 99% sure its a fuseholder problem and not a short or earth leak. Plan is to fit a different fuse holder and take the existing out of circuit, just wondered if anyone had experienced the same and what the solution foir them was.

Cheers peeps...

if it is melting without blowing the fuse then it suggests the heat is created by excess resistance through the fuse holder, usually due to dirt and/or corrosion. replace the holder and fuse.

Aye thats the plan, a separate blade fuse holder will do it, fuse doesnt blow, just gets hot due to high resistence at the terminals and melts the plastic, inevitably the fuse link then becomes dissed from the ends.

My friend had exactly this same problem on her K11 Micra. One of the fuses would get really hot and the fuse holder started to melt and then the headlight would stop working. It turned out to be poor quality connections in the holder - cured by using a knife to rub down the connectors until shiny metal appeared. After that it seemed to be ok...
