ALso known as drop links right? I have just taken ownership of my Megane and the last service said these need changing. I have never done them before so question is, how easy is it to do them? I am presuming it will be similar for all cars? Guy at the servicing place said dead easy 5 minute job but I just wanted to check that that is true!

And aimed at Jug as he knows the site well I think....can you find them on buypartsby.co.uk? I will go up and ask but I wanted an idea first.

Thank you, oh and I am still a Brava owner for now ;)

yep, drop links are same as ARB links, same as stabilizer rods, same as link rods and there are other names depending on where you're from.

they arent listed on buypartsby, but that website is just a motorfactor that sells online as well as in their shop so if you ask them they will be able to get them for you, however there is no advantage compared to calling your local motorfactor and getting them there, which will be a same day service, if you call now they should be ready for collection by 4pm. expect to pay approx £10-15 per side.

No it's cool; sutton auto factors (buypartsby) is based around Nottingham and Sutton and I have a place within 500 m ;)

That's the price that the servicing place said so if it's the same at Sutton I will do it myself.

hmm, the Haynes for the old Megane make it look like a fairly time consuming job, not the 5 minutes that the servicing place said, so maybe it's easier on the new model or easier when you know how...

if you have an impact wrench its a 5 minute job, take wheel off, remove 2 nuts, swap drop links over, refit 2 nuts, stick wheel back on, laugh to self.

if you dont have an impact wrench or similar then you may have a bit of fun getting the nuts off because they cant turn without turning on the thread.

I've been a traitor and back so shut it ;)

Servicing place will do it for the same price as I can get the parts, and they are doing the front brakes for me as it's not worth my time compared to what they are charging - they also need to have a play about with the aircon drainage for me.

So yep, been driving it today and love it!

I like my clutch working ;) The turbos go on that engine too so don't want to tempt fate!

It has plenty of buttons to press in addition to the go pedal so I will be happy enough for a while!

48 hours and 220 miles into ownership and my Megane and the Brava JTD have been keyed whilst infront of our house....I am so gutted :(

I know who probably did it, my girlfriend was here at the time and she has a '56 Swift in black and it wasn't touched despite being in the same place. It was either of parking issues (we have a double drive but on sat night we had 1 caravan and 5 cars outside) - BUT none of our neighbours would do such a thing so that's ruled out, kids messing about, ruled out because they didn't touch the Swift or....my sister's 'ex-boyfriend' who is a prat and probably blames us for him being the ex. What he didn't know was that my car is now my elder sisters and my dad's car is mine, so he attacked the Brava incorrectly...

I am waiting for a visit from chipsaway and will go somewhere else too. It's not through the primer but the car is perfect apart from it. I nearly cried...I spent 10 hours cleaning it to have that done 12 hours later!

Got the anti-roll bar link done today along with the front brakes though :)

My dad told me it's too clean and stands out, it was literally perfect - easy to do when you get a new car and want to make the best of it that you can. He was right. I also had thought about it a day before that my sister's ex might do something similar, alas he might have done. If only I knew for sure...I would do nothing about it and it would annoy me even more!

Right, bloke coming this evening to estimate the bodywork price so will see what he says. I have a bumper scuff (already been priced @ £72 elsewhere) and this scratch so I am so poor now :( Oh well, that's life, if I want nice things, I have to pay for them.

I have not once ever touched or damaged a car and I hate driving around with any marks, stupid perfectionist in me!

i used to be a perfectionist, thankfully i've learnt to let go, now its so much easier to get to sleep. my alfa has a tiny dint on the NSR corner and i dont even care. wow i'm so proud of myself.

Bloke came last night and quoted for the repair of the bumper scuff and said what he would do to hide the key scratch. He couldn't get close to my bumper scuff price I had been estimated elsewhere so apologised and he went. I told him about the other place I had been to, he said he had heard good things about him and he can't get close to their price. Took it this morning and by sheer luck, left the car there and then. Collect it around 4-6 tonight. The bumper will be fully repaired and the scratch he will polish down as best as he can (for free). Will hopefully be pleased when I see the work done.

The funny thing is that my car has had work before my Dad bought it as part of the dealer's deal with us. When I took it this morning he said he did all the work for that dealer (so was able to talk to me about the specific Renault paint colour) and once I mentioned what work had been done on it before, he was sure it was him that had done it. I just hope he does as good a job as before!
