Anyone driven one? Whats it like? Reliability? Depreciation?

I'm tempted by the grande punto, but can only afford a 1.2, and the swift is about 3 seconds faster to 60 - an it looks good too. Hopefully going for a test drive tomorrow.

Max power recently did an article with the New Fiat Panda vs the Suzuki Swift.

The Suzuki swift won marginally, So the Panda is probably better :D

But they did say it was a zaippy little beast that could fly round corners nearly as good as the old minis. How true this is I don't know. I've also heard them called a modern day 205 but thats not possible right?

From the people I know who have them none of them have had any complaints or serious issues so all in all they look like a nice car (y)

I'll give Halleys a call tomorrow. I don't like tha panda much, even the new one is a box on wheels. A mini mpv..er..thing. T'd have to get the gp 1.4 16v to match the performance of a 1.3 Suzuki.

Any chance I can a 16v 1.4 GP for under £6.5k?

pfft get a GP. the brouchure is WAYYYYY out, lol read my last posted thread :D

Well, even still. *If* the average 1.2 has that extra horsepower, the swift is still lighter, and has 20 more bhp. (33 more than the brochure).

My insurance is much higher than the swift though, I'm guessing for this reason.

i still think swift is the class leader all things considered. it doesnt have a weakness other than british bias towards the suzuki badge, and to be fair suzuki have come a bloody long way in the last 3 years. reputation may affect depriciation, as it has with previous suzukis, but there is evidence that is changing already (+fiats are just as bad). apart from that its a great car, if you can see past the badge you'll see suzuki have tried very hard with this car and there are no weak areas. its a safe bet. if i had a son/daughter who was 17 this year, i'd be buying them a 1.3 swift.

I've only driven the 1.6 but they are cracking little cars, smaller than a Grande, styling isn't quite as nice but quicker, feel better built and handle without the boat style sway that Fiat like to design in to the non Sport variants :)

They are more expensive and you get less toys though, that's where Fiat always win.

I have the Ignis Sport which has the M15A 1500cc engine, the Swift Sport has M16A 1600cc engine, I believe that the 1.3 is a M13A engine so all common family.

I will be upgrading to Swift Sport when I rack up the miles on my Iggy as I have been totally taken by it, and though have only sat in Sport it feels and looks great. I know someone with a white Swift 1.3 and she absolutely loves it and has had no issues with it whatsoever.

Jug has made some very interesting points about badge perception etc when Suzuki put the design brief together for the Swift it was to be as good if not better than what Europe and to offer, I think it succeeded in that.

Although Swift is new, the Ignis came third in reliability table from JD Power last year in supermini cat, and with the Swift being a newer car with developments of same engine I see no reason why it should be any different. Plus Suzuki I think were ranked 7th best dealer's in UK as well.

I know that from this months EVO mag they are working a Supercharged Swift with short ratio gearbox to capitalise on the success of the Junior WRC campaign that they have been running now for a few years starting with the Ignis and working through to the Swift.
