Help guys, new to the site. I need to swap my petrol car for a diesel and want to know the opinions of the Stilo 1.9JTD Sporting. I currently have a 55 plate C4 VTR+ 1.6i Coupe. Was trying to get a swap for a Skoda fabia vRS but they are too expensive. I have however been offered an August 05 Stilo, in black with 5,500 miles as a straight swap. I know that the Stilo depreciates like a stone but would you guys consider that a fair exchange. The C4 is decent but I am only getting 32.8MPG average and that is mostly motorway miles.

Also, where can I find a full spec on the Sporting? What gadgets does it have etc. Cheers peeps,

Craig:)

Welcome to FF. The JTD holds price better than most Stilo's. My JTd 04 Dynamic is getting 48-52 MPG and it's been re-mapped to 155 bhp. It came with sun-roof and cruise control. It's my second Stilo and I wouldn't hesitate for another. Again it will be a JTD.

Can you get a test drive and see what you think?

Yes, I will be able to get a test drive tomorrow. car is up at £8990 so seems pretty cheap but that means that I'm not getting much for my almost new C4 either.

I have spoken to Nigel at Angel Tuning. He tried (well Andy did) to remap my C4 but they couldn't get past the ECU protocol so that was a waste of time. He game me some info on this car telling me about the 40BHP increase he can give with the remap. How is the fuel consumption affected if you drive normally, as in 75 ish on the motorway? thanks.

Does the sporting have this my set-up thing also?

I think all the Stilos have the my setup thing don't they?

The Sporting has Aircon, CD player, 17" alloys, cruise control, and the usuals

I have a new Sporting JTD on order, and had the choice of the vRS, but the Stilo just looks sooo much better!

8.9K is a good price depending on kit. Sunroof?, alloys? Cruise control? I got an 04 for 8.4 with all the things listed last september with 11k on clock.

Fuel consumption appears no different following re-map, then again who cares? 48 mpg with remap is ok by me.

Cheers for the help guys. The car doesn't have a sunroof but does have 17s and cruise control. They are standard though aren't they?

Yes they are standard

not that i know of, just a standard 115 JTD with the turbo kicking in around 1250 rpm i suppose

Hey btw sorry for hi-jacking the thread! buy a JTD lots of fun!

Well had the test drive, thought the car handled well and the engine was torquey and strong. Did not however like the interior, the silver plastic and that ugly head unit put me right off. Also the fabric used to cover the seats reminded me of draylon. Tried an Alfa 147 JTD Lusso and bought it! Two extra doors and 6 insurance groups more but what a staunning car to sit in and drive. Hope nobody is offended by my comments just not my cup of tea. have already contacted Nigel and just waiting for confirmation of the remap date :D

Thanks fellas, far nicer than my original first choice the Fabia. The salesman reckoned it was a 120BHP engine in the 147 vs a 115BHP unit in the Stilo. From what i've read that isn't the case. Any of you guys know?

Very different drives though. The power delivery in the Stilo felt more urgent - you could feel the turbo come in. On the Alfa it was all more linear and less dramatic, the Fiat actually felt quicker but the 147 was lush on the bends :D
