Thanks for accepting me as a new member. I have a Fiat Ducato 2001 TD 1.9 campervan and love it. BUT I have two major issues.
1. water keeps coming into the engine. It leaves puddles on the battery and water gets into the gearbox - it seems to enter from the large gap between the bonnet and the windscreen - anyone know of a way of blocking this up.
2. 3rd and 4th gear keep grinding. I replaced this part a few years ago and it only lasted 6 days. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement gearbox or get mine reconditioned/fixed?

hi, i have same problem, i had a recon gearbox 3 years ago and they fitted a watter shute so the water from the windscreen drain would go down the shute and away from the gearbox, but the shute wasnt fitted very well and water got into the gearbox again causing 2nd and 4th gear to crunch, problem is the warranty is out now, i phoned the gearbox specialists ( bristol gearboxes) and told them the problem, they said as soon as i mentioned the problem, YEP thats water in gearbox, i paid £2000 3 years ago, it was a recon gearbox, new clutch and had the flywheel machined, also the fitting of water shute, ( a rubber pipe), was less than 3 months later i returned it to them as 3rd gear was a slight crunch, i had only done maybe 300 miles, they told me i had not done enough miles to run it in, i didnt use it last year, and i have just started to use it again, i have now done 1500miles since recon, and 2nd and 4th gear are a pain

theres a guy on youtube that has put many little mods around the engine to stop water running over the battery terminals and other wiring, the fitting of the water shute and greasing up the gear change linkage so water cant get into the gearbox, i am going to put mine in for a gearbox oil change and i will have a look at the gear linkage this week
