Hi all new here, so here's hoping.
I have owned this camper for 4 years with no major issues . However recently the keycode warning light intermittently come on when starting.
Result, engine cranks

Hi Varesecrazy I've had a look at it
Keys don't seem to make a difference. I cleaned the main earth straps and that definitely seemed to reduce the frequency of the fault.but as you know could be just coincidence.
Thanks for taking the time to reply

Hi, I owned a 98 Ducato on which the immobilizer had been bypassed by a previous owner as apparently failure of this was a common issue on this model.

You could check if this has already been done by looking at the injection pump; the security plate covering the immobilizer PCB will have been removed and the fuel cut-off solenoid fed directly from the ignition switch instead of via the PCB.

If it hasn't been done it may now be failing and causing your issue.

Many thanks. I checked and seems original so might be an issue. How would disabling immobiliser affect insurance I wonder. Thanks for the information

As I hadn't disconnected the immobilizer myself (and in fact didn't realise that it had been done until gleaning the information much later on from this forum!) I didn't, in all innocence, notify my insurance company when transferring cover from the previous van.

However an after-market alarm was fitted to the van, so presumably this was done at the time that the original immobilizer was bypassed.
