Hi Fiatforum,

I am from Denmark, and I have just bought a fine Fiat 127 with my father, that we intend to restore and eventually do some racing with.

I have bought a repair and a service manual I intend to read through to get an idea of how this car works and functions. I have only managed to find version that includes the 1049cc engine, and ours have the 903cc engine, so my question is whether there's major differences between the engines or if I can properly use these manuals as guides? Perhaps you guys have any tips on where to find these manuals for the 903cc engine and may have some other tips on things to be aware of?

Thank you in advance!

Kind regards
Niels Abild

Hi, you won't find anything too scary in the 127, they're a pretty basic sort of machine.
Be aware of the gearbox tho, I believe some of them had a Polish built set of cogs that didn't go down too well - I rebuilt my wife's gearbox twice - the metal used in them was not the best.

Other than that, just keep it well serviced and don't be afraid to splash a bit of oil and grease around the moving parts, I used to spray an oil and paraffin mixture under mine to ward off any rust.

Hi both of you guys,

Thank you for your welcome, and thanks for your advice! I'll start by finding a guide by Haynes.

Have a nice evening :)

Kind regards
