Good afternoon,
I am new to this forum. Have a Panda 100HP which runs like a racer (if it works).

I recently got a problem with loosing power when driving. Took it to Fiat, but they replaced an Ignition Coil and spark plugs, but problem persisted. Found out the wiring to the coils is weathered, and replaced the wiring over a section before the coils.

Took it in for a check, and diagnostics show loosing power on 3 coils. They suggest I replace all 4 coils and wiring. Can one get the wiring separately and where? In RSA Fiat service is horrible and spares extremely expensive. Looking at importing myself. Can someone assist?

Hello!

Sorry to hear of your woes - Im sure someone better qualified to answer your questions will be along soon (y)

coil and wiring for a second time doesn't sound right ?

Obly replaced section of wiring. They suggest the whole wiring set. Don't know where to get this. Second hand?

The age of most 100HPs make it likely that when one coil goes down, the others will not be far behind. 100HP coil wiring will be equally degraded. However, the 1.4 engine is used on many other cars so you might get a newer loom from a 500 or any newer Fiat with the 1.4 engine.

The coil wiring loom is not complicated. You can get wire, connectors and crimp tools on eBay. Use silicone wiring to withstand the heat. Alternatively, keep the old connectors and splice in new wires with soldered joints and heat shrink sleeves.
You can check the coils on a cold start with an IR thermometer. Start the engine from cold, point the IR red dot at each exhaust stub. The one(s) running cool probably has a weak coil. Prove it by moving the coil and see if the cold exhaust stub moves.
