Do i need to take the flywheel plate off to see if its coming from above? not sure where else i can see from?

Stuart

Oil running off the flywheel end of the engine will probably affect the clutch before you see any drips. The drive belts end or running down the block should be easy to see.

Clean the sump with degreaser and see where the oil returns. It's highly likely to be rusted pin holes.

Its coming from the flywheel side of engine but clutch is still ok. The sump isn't that rusty!

I've got a borescope but i will still have to take the flywheel plate off to c where its coming from i think, or iz i bein dumb?!

I think DaveMcT is saying is its hard to see and could be from higher up.

They all weep a little as they get older

This video covers the ones nearly every Panda suffers from at sometime.

The one at the 3 minutes mark will work its way down to the bottom of the bellhousing.

I am not saying this is your problem. Just worth checking before the pain of the sump

Oh dear same codes as before

I went on the bypass today and low and behold FLASHING ENGINE LIGHT codes are the same as before P0300 P0301 P0304 and i have swapped the coil packs.
What should i do next?

Also have cleaned up the oil as best i could and there is a small leak from the front of the sump on the curved bit and a larger leak coming from in between the gearbox cover plate and sump I am still surmising it is coming from the sump seal the same as the front. There is also a small leak coming from the o ring seal mentioned in the above posts but its liveable (How long does it take to replace the o ring and what's the procedure? I might do it anyway.

As usual your comments are always appreciated.

Regards
Stuart

Well at least you proved its not the coil pack.

Being the end cylinders its unlikely to be compression

You could swap the end plugs for the inner ones and clear the codes as before to eliminate the plugs

Personally it sounds like the ECU plug. Did you get round to cable tying it down?

No not checked ecu plug. will do that today, i assume the wires go straight from the ecu to the coil packs with no sneaky change of colours on the way?!

There's nothing to see. As far as I know. As I have never had this problem.

Disconnect the battery, Spray a little contact cleaner, put the connector back. Tighten it down with cable ties. Connect a few together to get the length

Reconnect the battery

If you have a CD player it should have kept the code. If you have a cassette player you will need to enter the radio code

The issue is either cracked wire conductor(s) under the insulation usually close to the ECU connector block or a poor connection within the block. The fault will often flicker when you move the wire bundle.

When you say flicker do you mean engine light? I suspect a high impedance connection, last night i had the ecu plug off and traced the wire, the read coil pack brown and black wire is back left on the ecu connector looking from the front. I cleaned it up best i could and also the coil pack end, anyone taken the ECU connector apart? If so how easy is it, dont want to break something unnecessarily !
