I'm not new, my login still worked! :)

I had a couple of Punto Mk 1's way back when, prob the best part of ten ago since.

Anyway, since then I went back to my first love of Alfas. Had two facelift 156s (still got one, a diesel, and cracking car it is too).

But now I've bought a 500C. Always fancied one, and have found a lovely low-mileage one in really good nick. Hope to pick it upon Saturday.

Hello again (y)

You can own up to the Bravo too.. ;)

Still got an Italian bike ?

Charlie

I can see you keep your spreadsheet up to date! :)

Ha, I'd forgotten about the Bravo! I sold it ot a mate and he got a good few more miles out of it.

Yes, still got the old eponymous Ducati 748, still going strong. Had a Monster too but sold it this year.

Back then though I was in Wiltshire, and have now re-located to Lancashire.

Anyway, collected my lovely 500C today. Delighted with it! been doing battle with all the menus and trying get the music set up to play off a memory stick, think I've cracked it now, Dealership set up the Blue and Me before I left and paired it up to my phone OK. Everything seems to work fine, including Stop/Start, roof, etc. I do wonder if that puts a big load on the battery, though.

Congratulations, and welcome to the topless club.

The roof doesn't seem to put undue strain on the battery, especially the hefty battery fitted to the Stop/Start cars. Mine hasn't put a foot wrong in seven years.

I use a soft-top cleaning spray and water-repellent treatment once a year and the fabric looks like new.

Been out for a little run out in the sunshine and I am delighted with it. I took a few pix, but the thread here for owners' pictures seems only to work with photos from a website like Flickr or suchlike, as far as I can see, rather than pictures stored your laptop, is that right?

Forum has its own hosting..
:)

(thats why the GUIDES etc are generally still good after Photobuckets sillyness)

The top of newbie section should remind us all of how it works :)

Yeah, I'm on top of that now. I have posted a pic in the Members Cars section.

Just to say (and Googling reveals a lot of talk about this, on this site and elsewhere), without wanted to re-hash stuff that's been extensively covered elsewhere, I have found pulling away a little awkward. Now I realise all cars have their different 'feel' in teems of pedal location and things like that. A new car often feels a bit odd and first, and normally we all adjust pretty quick. So I'm not panicking here. But it seems to me there are a few things going on here:

1, Clutch bite point a bit on the high side?
2. Is the first gear a bit 'tall'?
3. A 'narrower' gate than I'm used to has meant I've selected the wrong gear a few times
4. Bit of a lack of space for your left foot, unlike my much roomier Alfa.

Without going into too much technical detail, does that seem fair?
