Hi all thanks for having me. Advice please if possible. I've seen a lovely 500L Trekking for sale its the 1.3 multijet diesel full service history 2013/63 plate, but has covered 116,000miles. My current car is a Kia Soul diesel with 61000 on the clock, and in all honesty I only cover about 5000 miles per year. I fancied a change as the 500L is a nice looking car. So can that size engine be capable of that mileage and if so how much more. Has anyone covered high miles in a 500L 1.3. also us there anything I need to be aware of regarding things to look out for or listen to. Any advice much appreciated
Thanks Stu

Hi

The basic mechanicals are the same as the doblo and vauxhall .. used by all the utility companies

Basic motor is chain driven
.

The chain needs good quality oil.. or the damping of the chain tensioner can be impaired

Chains at 120k are fairly normal

But some well looked after examples do 300k without issue

Do you do enough miles to avoid DPF problems?

Only 5000 miles a year.whats the true town driving economy on the 500L as I'm getting about 32 mpg at the moment

I fancied a change as the 500L is a nice looking car.

Nice to hear someone thinks so. I was a bit dismayed when one auto reviewer criticised 500L' looks and calling it 'stubby'. My wife and I love the looks. We think it looks fresh and distinctly different, cute without looking childish or feminine.

Since your annual mileage is low, have you considered getting the petrol version? Although I understand that you can't be too choosy when buying used car.

Mine is 500L MPW TwinAir.

Welcome Woody

My only advice would be to take your time choosing and making the decision.

Getting involved in the forum beforehand is masterstroke in my opinion (y)
