Trunk wiring all now good - it was a mess !(replaced!) Still unable to open the trunk manually (using the switch on the trunk handle). What else could be wrong ? Could the trunk catch be faulty ? Could it be linked to the door locking button on the key ? Help !!

If the fob works then it's probably a crook micro-switch in the handle. I had one go at a very early stage but it was under warranty so I didn't tackle it. FIAT simply replaced the whole handle.

I had a similar problem. I removed the boot backpanel and then unscrewed the whole of the long silver handle (4 screws I think) after unplugging the wiring . Once the silver handle is removed you can remove its plastic rear panel which is held in by plastic lugs. I used a flat screwdriver to prize it out. Once the back panel is removed i saw that my problem was a loose pivot pin. The actual boot handle pivots on two pins and one of them had worked loose . Although the boot handle still pivoted, it wasn't hitting the microswitch. I put the pin back in place and replaced the plastic back panel. I tested it before replacing it by reconnecting the wiring. Problem sorted. I then replaced everything in reverse order. The whole job took about 45 minutes and required no special tools or specialist knowledge or money. ( Allen key to remove boot fabric strap). Hope this helps.:)

Micro switch is working, boot latch is working - both tested off the car. Can someone tell me which fuse and/or which relay operates these parts.

Thanks John - is this the fuse box under the dash ? A bigger picture would be great.

If the central locking key button is not working (new key not coded yet) would that stop the trunk from opening manually ?

No power seems to be reaching the trunk switch and lock. Rear wiper working OK as is the heated window. Fuses all seem to be OK. Is there a relay somewhere ?

Is it the convertible version? The boot stopped working on my daughters and I had to take several steps like open the roof, close roof, hold for a couple of seconds then voila! I'll find the instructions if it is
