My daughter's 500 has fallen foul of the broken wiring in the trunk loom. I sourced a used loom section on e-bay which looks OK. However the original loom has more black wires than the replacement. I need a wiring diagram. can someone help. the car is a 2011 Lounge.

From memory there are 6 black(thin) a repair kit might be better bet(on EBay about £50), the looms are clearly not the same if the number of conductors are different so may not fit the plugs? I fixed ours using all red wire(had some spare ultra flexible in red )
As you might guess the blacks are the earths and go to a common point, why they didn't use one common one I don't know.

Was the donor vehicle same year?

What are the total number in the loom?

Probably something to do with light bulb detection or something my guess

Thanks for all your replies. The donor car is 2017 - mine is 2011. All the coloured wires in both of the looms match up except for the extra blacks. The plugs are all the same. Any suggestions ?

The 2017 may have the new rear lights set up, hence the difference-they had fogs in the bumper, not the light unit

Well that sounds like a plan if mine ever goes again!! Where did you get the flexible wire??

I used silicone covered ultra flexible wire(the type often used on test meter leads that has many very fine conductors) from Ebay, I soldered the new section to the "longest" of the old and used this to pull the wire through the flexible, once that became hard I used a steel wire( think wire coat hanger thing) and used this to poke it through.
At the time I didn't replace the two thick heated screen ones due to their thickness, eventually the earth failed several years later which I simply ran on the outside of the flexible poking it through the outer just after the body grommet section.

Hi :)

Colours are not AS IMPORTANT.. as the correct total number

Or do you have several fractured blacks?

eLEARN might get you a diagram..
but If youve got several sheared blacks.. you will probably need more than a diagram

+1 on the actual colours not being that important as these are just for identification, but in these days of OBD and computer fault finding then this is less important and in fact many manufacturers are now installing wiring looms in cars that have All black insulation on All the wires! ( nightmare for any non dealer fixers )

So if in doubt label each 'side' of every wire for ref as it is not easy to do one at a time.

Yep, our 07 Mazda's boot lid are all black and it's not even that sophisticated electronically.
