Any help with finding a manual with a section on diy head gasket. No Haynes available, unless engine was put in a car also! Any ideas grateful. I have done 3 head gaskets before, but years ago. All this time on lockdown, I thought I’d rise to the challenge, but need your help. Anyone got a pdf manual for this old workhorse?

The jtd has been around since 97

1.9 8valve used in bravo-a and marea.. then stilo

The Alfas used it too 147 , 156

Haynes manuals are poor at missing certain motors from their manuals..

The Lindsay Porter collecive FIAT manual is probably your best bet

Covers bravo.brava.marea
And all motors


The forums info should be pretty good.. but stilo based.. so around 10 years old now

Just found out to do the head, the whole engine has to be dropped out the bottom! Ffs. Is that correct 100%?

Poor starting..

Clouds of steam..

Blowing coolant out of rad..

Losing water..?

Any coolant in engine oil..(showing on dipstick)

Losing coolant every trip. Slight scum under filler cap. Water doesn’t feel oily. And engine needed 2l oil other day, first time in a year. No smoke I don’t think, not noticed it.
Did have water pump n belt done 3 month ago.

The vans ace. Runs really well. Just needing a lot of topping up cause red light keeps coming on.
No water/oil scum on oil dipstick either.

Warm weather expected weekend, I’ll investigate more thoroughly.

Red light.. low coolant?

If its not pressurising the rad.. blowing past rad cap..

That is a slightly better scenario..

But using oil isnt

Yes, red light low coolant. Header tank looks reddish inside, do u think someone’s put coolant sealant in there before, like Radweld?
Gonna do same meself I think!
I’ve topped up coolant, not leaking anywhere where it’s parked at home. So gonna give van a run and see if exhaust is white. Can’t see out back, so need to get someone to see for me. Lol
Got loads of time on my hands, for some reason! Lol

Just not looked lately.. or lost a lot recently??
