I've got a 2017 0.9 twin air engine in a Panda 4x4 bought In June 19 which for me is using too much oil. It was serviced March 19 by main dealer for previous owner at 11.5k UK miles (inc oil/filter change). I've taken it to 16.8k since then.
Car cut out on Tuesday and was recovered to main dealer who had to put 2.5lt of expensive oil in it. Is this normal? I think it only takes 3.5lt to fill. Currently getting 42 mpg so I'm not thrashing it. No signs of a leak, never overheats and runs well.

Its lost A LOT of oil. Expect problems.

By the way, Audi/VW tell you to drive the car "normally" but don't lug it at lows revs or thrash it for the first 1000 miles. During that period they can burn a fair bit of oil. If they are treated too gently from new they will continue to burn oil.

Fiat will not be significantly different so if there is no engine damage it may well improve with some hard fast driving to free up and seat the piston rings.

Hi. :)
Yes these can 'burn'oil.. through poor sealing of the piston to bore interface.

As stated..losing that much isnt good news..!!

When did you last check the levels?

Im sure the book consumption will be circa 1.5litres per 1000 kms (worst case..)

When I was waiting for my 1st TA I was concerned by the stories of high ..and expensive.. oil consumption

So chose a 'harsh' break in method..

Car has now done @50 k miles..and the level never moves..

With this in mind I was very wary of our recently purchased panda it had 10k on it.. so wasnt sure if the procedure would still be as effective

But its now done 4k with us and levels are holding..as performance is improving :)

I had a very tight Seicento 900 that was even slower than its (alleged) 40bhp could be expected to deliver and not especially good on fuel. It had 40,000 miles of city driving on the clock.

A few weeks of 160 mile foot to the floor motorways commutes soon had it sorted. It was never going to be fast but it went from a slug of the thing to something properly Italian and the fuel consumption improved considerably as well.
