Ok ive gone and just changed the drivers side handel that broke off. It took a while to seat the handel in propally and ive tightened the mechanism. Now after attaching the rods and connected the electrics back on, ive tried the electric locking on the key and the door wont lock. The door now opens and closes and when i lock the door with the key fob the lights flash but it wont lock. I tried it manually with the key in the lock and turning the key does nothing at all abit spongy if anything. So in all ive fixed the door after replacing the door handel but ive now gone and lost the ability to lock the door and the electric door locking ability. Ive gone and taken out the electric connection and reseated it back in but it still wont work. The lights flash on the car when i press the lock button on the fob but not a sound and door still unlocked.
Any ideas please what may have gone wrong. All i did was change out the the door handel and swapped over the barrel into the new handel which was straight forward.

Sounds like the little plastic thing that connects the rods in the door has come off. Best remove the door cover and check the mechanics
