Ladies and gentlemen,
This is a brief intro from an old LandRover man for 25 yrs who recently bought himself a nimble and competent offroader, a 2006 Fiat Panda Mk2 1,2L Petrol, 4x4WD. I know it has lived a long life, originating in Holland and came to Sweden in 2008.
It looks like this Forum is lively and full of "good-to-know-stuff" so I am looking forward to be part of your community.
Best regards,
Hotcliff

Thanks, yes I spend hours last night reading pages of interesting leads about 4x4. Very friendly conversations and a lot of knowledge behind many of them :)

Most of us are British so do forgive us when we forget that you drive on the opposite side of the road and that some issues we have just don't apply to LHD cars.

DaveMcT, it's ok for me since I have worked and been driving in both London and Singapore :)

I was thinking about things like fancy (= expensive) hydraulic clutch actuation (UK). Simple cheap cable clutch (everywhere else).

Ok, you are priviliged in the UK I think..We "Barbarians and heathens" have to stick with the stone-age stuff! :)

Hmm...

Easy to change cable clutch for £10. Or complicated not very reliable hydraulic clutch that cannot be repaired other than by replacing the system at costs around £110.

On that one, I would take the "stone age" version.

Black with a red interior look a nice combo. With some bling spot lamps thrown in (y)
Yes, I fell for it :) Actually there was only 1 Panda 4x4 for sale in Sweden last autumn, so I took i! Like the black/red too
I use it a lot for hunting and the extra lights are not just bling but very good in the woods:D

Old thread.. ;)

Those alloys look 1990's

Possibly Alfa/Lancia.. not just FIAT

They remind me of Uno wheel trims ;)

Oops... didn't notice. Yes! Uno wheel trims. I think you're right. That's probably what I was trying to dig out from my memory!

My pepper pot steels don't have the flat face but almost as good (y)

Is there a photo on here, DaveMcT? I did think about getting a set of steels, cleaning them up and spraying them.

Mine is a 100HP so I have a set 6J x 15 ET30 running 195-50-R15 tyres. https://www.oponeo.co.uk/steel-wheel/magnetto-wheels-mw-r1-1804#21067447

Oponeo steel wheel listing here. https://www.oponeo.co.uk/steel-whee...pwY2tfVHJMU1BGBQEwHIPTfwwp5eSDLax752G9xsY8PsE

DO NOT enter your car details. The Oponeo website makes the wrong assumptions and you can't delete the information entered without deleting the browser history.
If you order wheels they think are unsuitable, they will ask you to confirm your order. No worries, they trying to avoid selling the wrong wheels. However, their data was not correct for my car. I sent them a photo of the wheel data mark on the inside rim.

The 4x4 will need 14" wheels of an appropriate width. The ET30 offset is probably the same but check the details cast into your original alloy wheels.

A comment was made about the Fiat 500 Torx headed bolts being an issue if the 17mm/Torx adaptor key gets lost. That's of course true, but no worse than losing a locking wheel nut key and as it's a Torx, cheaper to replace.

This is how they look with some bolt on trim caps. (Repair to the damaged black trim will happen when the weather is warmer) :)

Guys, Thanks for this info and pointing me to the other thread. So much useful info. It's great to see. Those steel wheels look really great. Definitely a job I'd like to do so that I have a set of tough wheels.

So much great stuff on the Fiat Forum. Thanks again, guys :)
