Hi all - new owner of a Ducato camper van conversion (Autocruise Accent) and hoping someone can help me please?

I bought a reversing camera from ebay but am confused over the camera wiring. The camera replaces the existing high level brake light and I’ve assumed that the brake light would continue to work. There is a separate power lead in the box which I was expecting to connect up to the reversing lights but I can’t see anyway/place where the power lead connects to the camera. What am I missing here?

I’m sure that I’m not the first person to come across this - any advice or guidance much aporeciated.

Chris

Hi Limmo
You have my sympathy - The instructions with these Far-East items often leave something to be desired. Can you post a scan of your specific instructions ?
In general terms (yours may differ !), there will be a video (coaxial) cable from the camera to the monitor, often connected by phono connectors coloured yellow. Both camera and monitor will also need 12 volts DC power when operating, often connected by small jack connectors colored red. The video cable may have an additional DC core, so physically it looks like a single cable but does both jobs. It will split at each end into the two individual parts. The usual method is for the 12V supply to be taken from the reversing lights at the rear, and fed forward to the monitor. You may need to remove internal trim at the vehicle rear and fish through a cable from one reverse light up to the central brake light position. The brake light wiring will be completely separate.
