Bought a brand new 1978 Fiat Spider as my first new car. Never forgot the fun that I had. Here we are now and just sold my toy and am currently looking to get back in the game. Searching for a clean 78 to 82 spider and glad this forum has lots of information and plenty of people to help. Pleased to be back in the hunt!

Hi Bob and welcome. What part of the 'States do you hail from? My daughter, her husband and children were based in Southern Maryland (Leonardtown) for nearly 5 years. They've been back in Britain for a couple of years now. We would travel over twice a year to be with them and I made friends with a chap who lived round the corner from them. He was rebuilding a MK1 Corvette and it was always interesting to see the progress each time I visited. He had been hoping to give me a ride in it before my son-in-law's contract came to an end but didn't quite manage.

The kids still go back to visit the friends they made whilst living there so maybe one day I'll go with them and claim my ride.

Thanks for the warm welcome Jock! We lived in northern Maryland but recently moved to south Florida. Just sold my 1960 corvette and looking to purchase a spider. Just starting the process now and want a nice one - taking my time and trying to do my homework before the plunge. New journey, again.

Look through the forums classifiefs.. there have been a few for sale in the southern states in the last couple of years.. you might be lucky..
