I mean this post is exactly what it says on the tin.

I am desperately looking for a new 500, and I’m newly set on the YeYe green ! An old style I know, but the heart wants what the heart wants. Every one I’ve tried to buy so far has copped out and owners either falsifying facts or withdrawing sale upon deposit.
It’s like they know it’s rare and want to see me suffer.
So, alas, defeated and exhausted I turn to the fiat forum.. the experts? I would love a hand in finding one (I’ve been through all the ones on autotrader/Facebook so those aren’t really great) I’m really just interested if anyone’s selling one or knows someone selling one they could put me in touch with !!

Thanks

New.. as in less than a year..10k miles?

1242 petrol only?

I know they released a limited number back in 2008/2009 so that was the enitial age I was looking at; I honestly just love the colour so all the other aspects aren’t really issues for me (an incredibly girly way to view cars I know) but I’m just after the colour regardless of it’s age/intake. I’m happy to make repairs and do work to it as expected on an 08/09 aged car I’ve just been really struggling to find ANY (other than the 3 I’ve viewed where owners have all withdrawn their sale)

Ok. Well that is easier .. :)

Any engine?

Pretty sure there was the mj.. but too early for TA..

ANY interior spec?
At 11 years old you many want to swap it out anyway..

Honestly at this point in my searches ANY engine will suffice; preferably manual over auto but, as long as it gets from A to B I really am not particular with its mechanics. Not much in the way of interior preferences either, ideally the cream colour and I prefer the checkerboard seats over the tan leather they seem to mostly be paired with, but again - I am really not fussy and will take anything ! I’ve just found YeYe so hard to find any online that at this moment I’m time I’ll take it as it comes as long as it’s green ?

Hey Em,
I was at the Fiat dealership in Slough yesterday and I'm pretty sure I saw one there. But, it's Used, not new.
If you go onto the Used Fiat section of the Fiat website, and do an advanced search, you can filter my colour.
Looks like there is one in Slough, but also a few more elsewhere that might be closer to you.
Hope that helps :)

There's one on ebay ,damned expensive though

Anyone contemplating paying almost four grand for an 11yr old 500 doesn't need a car forum, they need a therapy website.

YeYe was discontinued 10 years ago; IMO any remaining cars will be too close to being an ELV to justify the kind of prices you're likely to be asked to pay. You'll get far, far better value if you broaden your search horizon.

I understand what you're saying, but would you not post the car because you don't agree with the cost.

I'd post the car, but I'd also add a note that this is a car with a trade value of perhaps £1500 or so in any other colour. Either the seller is being very optimistic with the asking price, or the market really is prepared to pay double what the car would otherwise be worth, just because of the colour.

My concern is that the OP may not have a great deal of experience in buying secondhand vehicles, and may not be aware of the risks of paying that much above market for an 11yr old car. I can still remember a very much younger me throwing away what was then my life savings on what turned out to be a useless heap of junk.

You could buy a newer car and have it wrapped in yeye green.

Or buy a newer car in cool mint.

I'm wondering how much more than that you'd have to lay out for one of the later cars in cool mint, from a reputable garage with a decent warranty?

That's good advice, in my opinion the therapy comment was uncalled for.

But if you've looked for a yeye green 500, you would know there's no such thing as a book/trade price for them, the demand far outstrips supply.

I'll not comment further because i don't think either of us is looking for a dispute and don't want to put the OP off the forum (unless i see another yeye green 500)

Yes, thanks for the heads up ! Someone messaged me the same thing, but I believe the green on the forecourt is the Riviera Green from the anniversary release? it’s deffo in my choices, such a lovely colour but I called today after your comment reminded me and it’s already sold??*♀️ Thanks anyway

Im aware, thanks for your input and concern and please forgive me if my original post was misconstrue but i never said I would pay £4K for a car worth just 1, probably didn’t make it clear so my apologies. I know it’s trade value is often far lower than owners ask, hence my original post including that sellers KNOW it’s rare and KNOW there it’s currently a bit of demand for the rarity and often get away with ripping people off. I’m not a car expert by far which is also why I’m not fussed about it’s engine and modcons and other specs - but having said that, I am fully aware, with regards to you other comments, the many risks that can come with an older car, especially when paying a higher price tHan is necessary - I know my only criteria for this car was that I want it in YeYe, but I have allowed the time to look into the cars legal past, how it’s kept and the sellers themselves so I don’t feel like I’m being TOTALLY ripped off. I know it’s excessive for a fiat when considering the vast options I could purchase alternatively. I have had few fiats in the past years and I just know I like this colour and want the change (call it what you will, air headed etc - I know what I want and take the greater picture into consideration), regardless of it’s insanity to some people and very feminine take on buying a car purely for its colour. ; I fully don’t expect to buy an 08 plate and have it run for years without needing to make a lot of repairs, so I’m far from naive to what I’m getting myself into with this I view it more a goal and a side project than a prized car. That’s the reason I came to the forum in the first place, felt like if anyone on here was going to know of a YeYe personally (Via friends etc) that it is probably half decent based on the fact this is a forum specifically for people who know/need to know things about fiats directly. The ones I’ve viewed so far I’ve extensively checked - FYI - and as so have not yet purchased those available currently as I feel like I, mySELF, am not the issue within a priced purchase but very often the owner - I have a fair knowledge in the fiat condition knowing what should be done, what to look out for etc etc etc, but it seems very many owners often do not or at least they love to believe the buyers (myself included, being a young lady) will seldom know the issues involved with this specific purchase and be ripped of immensely. So yes, thank you for your advice, it truly IS helpful and I respect your opinion - but no I don’t believe I don’t fit into your agreement.

Does it have to be YeYe, or would you consider Cool Mint?

This one:

https://www.motors.co.uk/car-52214119/?i=2&m=sscp

may be outside your budget, but 2 1/2 yrs vs 11 yrs; 13000 miles vs 63000 miles, dealer support & warranty for less than twice the price - IMO much better value.

If you are going to buy an older 500, inspect the rear beam carefully for corrosion, particularly the area around the bottom of the spring pans.
