Hi i am looking at changing the gearbox oil in my 2002 Fiat Ducato 244 cab/chassis, can someone please tell me where the drain plugs is and where the inlet is to replace the oil, thanks any help much appreciated, thanks, Dave Letham

Hi Dave
The drain plug is at the lowest point under the final drive at the back of the gearbox, it is an internal square plug so you need one of those square multi size sump plug tools, it looks like a 3/8 drive would fit but it seems not. Directly above on the R/H side top, there is the speedo drive transducer which is one place to fill the gearbox & is also the only place that you can check the oil level by eye as there is no level plug.
It is recommended to fill with 2.7 litres (which is more than originally) to allow better lubrication of the fifth gear assembly, caution with what oil you use, some are apparently not compatible with the synco ring material - Fiat recommends TUTELA Matryx ZC 75 Synth API GL4/5, MIL L 2105 LEV Fiat 9.55550
See this post from 2011/3 weeks ago on the other fill points - the breather & reversing lights switch.
