Hi All

I've just joined the Fiat Forums so I'd like to say hello. My name's John and I live near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire

I've got a Ducato 2.3 JTD X250 based motorhome which I bought 4 years ago and its been great so far. Other than engine oil and filter the only thing I've had to change in 23K miles is the battery.

I'm usually do my own maintenance and my first big job on the van will be changing the cambelt - the van is only on 28,000 miles but is coming up to 7 years old so it probably needs doing to be on the safe side.

I do have a slight problem though - my oil light is flashing and the 'change engine oil' message is being displayed on the dashboard.

I've tried 2 different OBDC2 gadgets but they can't reset the oil change indicator. I don't want to pay a garage to reset it as they'll charge 140 to change the oil first. I changed it myself 4,000 miles ago.

Anyone got a tip on how to switch the indicator off before the ECU automatically goes into limp mode?

Cheers

Welcome to the forum.

If you're doing all your own maintenance, you can't go wrong investing in MultiECUScan and a decent set of cables. Unlike cheap OBD gadgets, it's specifically designed to work with FIAT family ECUs and will be able to read, reset and diagnose all of the kit in your van.

I recommend Gendan as they do package deals with the software and appropriate cables for your vehicle and provide great telephone support.
I'm assuming that you have a windows laptop to be able to run the software ...

Thanks for the tip.

I've been given an ELM obdc plug that has a USB cable attached to it and I've got a couple of window PCs. But no laptop unfortunately!

Re: Just Joined

I'm not sure what cables are required so a demo would be just the job.

Re: Just Joined

Tried out MuliltiEcuScan using an ELM USB connector and a borrowed laptop. Although the Comms check was OK the app reported an ECU CANbus Comms failure.

So I phoned the local garage that specialises in vans and the reset the oil and service indicators for a tenner
