Hi All
I have purchased a Fiat 124 from California to hopefully turn into a rally car.
Currently Guy Croft has the engine rebuild underway and I am sorting the rest.

Other cars
2 x Hawk Strato's
Lancia Fulvia Zagato (rust bucket for renovation)
Lancia Fulvia
MGB GT (wife's car)

Cheers

Hi Phil,

Back in the late '80's, I helped a friend convert a 124 Spider for rallying. I rebuilt a 1756cc engine for him which went quite well and was reliable.
(I always reckoned reliability was more important than outright power).

Another friend (professional panelbeater/sprayer) of his fitted a 1st series Fiat 127 saloon roof to the Spider bodyshell and made Lexan? windows to suit.

So it went well, was reliable and .....

Waterproof :D

Back in the late '70's, a fellow Mechanic at the same Fiat/Lancia Dealership as me, had an ex-factory Fiat 124 Spider Stradale Rallye - the one with all the gear and mods. Terrible pity that it ended up in a ditch while competing in a Rally in the west of Ireland. Don't know what happened to it afterwards.

P.S. In my opinion and also that of many others, Guy Croft is 'The Man'. I've often regretted not buying his book on Tuning/Modifying the Fiat Twin Cam engine.

Hi AL
Yes GC is the man !!.... I was taken out in a 1800 recent GC rebuild and I think it ran a single twin choke Holley..... It absolutely screamed !!...extremely flexible too and revved beyond 9k with ease.
My engine will be running the twin 44idf set up and I am looking for a reliable 180/200 bhp... I am with you reliability is my preference.

I am currently fitting grp4 arches and lamp pods... However this is more work than I initially envisaged !

Shell has no rot whatsoever and is a pleasure to work on.

Cheers
Phil
