Hi all,

I have a problem getting into 3rd gear on our 1972 500l (with a 650 engine) without a horrible crunching sound... it doesn’t always happen, but more times than not. I’ve replaced the gear lever which was knarled up and had the reversing washer missing and this rectified some of the problems I was having but the 3rd gear crunch came back! Is it a case of adjusting the gear lever position again or am I at the start of something that is going to be more major than problems at the gear lever end...?
