Just joined as I bought a 1970 500L. left hand drive, in Sunburst Yellow on Monday. I've fancied getting one for a while and as my wife has a practical sensible car I thought now was my chance. My wife has christened her Flavia.

Two small problems, first of all the steering wheel is about 30 degrees off straight so I'd like to get that repositioned, I assume that's not a big deal?

And secondly the day after I got it one of the exhaust gaskets started to blow so I went on Ricambio and bought four (two to use and two spares of course!). everything is so cheap on these lovely little cars!

I've tried to attach pics so hopefully they've worked.

Ciao

Karl

Nice car! the steering wheel is an easy fix. Just pop off the center cap and spring and there is a nut holding it on. Take it off, pull the wheel off the spline and re-position it and then just tighten everything back up.

I'm not sure if there is a difference between L and F models but a word of warning from a bit of a novice here. I needed to remove my steering wheel (F model). I discovered to my shame that it is not the centre horn push that pops off but the whole horn unit including the "chrome" outer ring that needs to be levered out :bang:. Fortunately I managed to reconstruct the horn button and get it all put back together again but you won't get to the nut if you just lever out the central horn button.

I also struggled to undo the nut (because the wheel turns!). I created a "stand" out of a couple of things I had in the garage with a "Y" top so that the steering wheel spoke could rest securely in it and the other end was wedged against the floor to prevent the wheel turning. Worked a treat...very pleased with myself :D
