Question Transmission oil change Fiat Doblo 1.3 Multijet 90hp

Hello,

I'm new on this forum and i'm still searching how everything works here.
So if i make any mistakes i'm sorry for that...
I want to say that my English is not 100% correct.

- So i have buyd an Fiat Doblo 1.3 Multijet 2012(manual transmission). I'm very happy with this car i have changed every filter and changed the engine oil, but i wanted to change my transmission oil but normally you have an filler bolt and drain bolt but my one has 3 bolts for some reason. I dont know which bolt i need to open to drain the oil? I hope one of you can find it and tell me which i need to open.

@AndyRKett Thanks for replying so fast.

A few days ago i have tried to change my oil already. Back then i have opened the 12mm bolt like you see on this picture. But there only came 1.4l out. My transmission needs 2l 75w90, so thats why i made this thread. But next week i'm gonna to try to open that one bolt you have show me and hope all the oil will come out.

You won't gear a lot of the oil out the gearbox while it's on the car so 1.2 due to all the areas it can get trapped in

I did some research and saw this video
it looks like the same gearbox as mine and he opens the bolt at the end of the gearbox.

As thatís an abarth 500 gearbox, it is a totally different gearbox to your car, and even from the picture I can see that it is a very different gearbox.

To be honest, the gearbox oil should in theory last the life of the vehicle.

Obviously some will be lost over the years as it will work through the various seals and some will be burnt off by the heat in the gearbox, also as pointed out some will get trapped and even if left to stand for a long time, there will still be a coating of oil, all over the internal components.

You 1.4 litres out, you can tell exactly how much the box has lost by measuring out 2 litres of new oil, fill the box up to the filling point and then measure how much of your 2 litres you have left, that will tell you how much capacity the gearbox had and you can see how much oil had been lost over the years.

I wouldnít get too hung up on chasing every lost drop, with 90%of the oil being changed you will have perfectly adequate protection for the internals of the box and unless something had gone wrong in the gearbox, causing damage and leading to some sort of contemination of the oil with metal particles then just changing what you can get out is fine.

You can get pretty much all the oil out of the 1.3 as the drain plug is so low and you can squeeze a little more out by raising the back of the car.

Re: Transmission oil change Fiat Doblo 1.3 Multijet 90hp

@AndyRKett

Wow thanks for the reply. You have answered all my questions. Thanks for that !
I wanted to change the oil because the van has over 140 000 kms. They told me i needed to change the oil around 110 000 kms.
To be sure, i have correct the picture. After it has drained the oil i have to fill it until it drips out the filler. A week ago i have tried to change my oil and i have opened the little 10mm bolt and drain the oil out of there i dont if thats bad?
