Hi, I wonder if anyone can help?
The seat belt warning light & siren has started to come on while driving for no apparent reason. It seems to do it only when it’s really hot weather.
We had the problem last summer in Southern France, but it didn’t do it when we came home to the UK. It did it again on Friday, when it was really hot again.
Any ideas?
Thanks
K

Are you confusing this with the airbag warning light. This is currently causing many problems on older vans and apparently requires a replacement of the ECU.

I wouldn't say it is currently causing many problems on older vans, but there are two reasons why the SRS lamp falsely activating is likely to be more common on motorhomes:

1. Check the seat belt pretensioner wiring where it runs under the cab seats if you have seat swivels. The cables are routed through the centre of the swivel often without any additional protection and can rub and short on the swivel plate over time. Fitting a short length of split cable protection sleeving can help prevent this.

2. Corruption of the SRS ECU due to the vehicle battery going flat, or owners tinkering with motorhome electrics without fully understanding what they are doing and taking proper precautions. There are companies that can repair the SRS ECUs for a lot less than the cost of a new unit.

Unless there is obvious damage to the cables as above, any diagnosis would require a check for fault codes with suitable equipment such as MES or dealer software.

Since you heavily censored my contribution I shall have no further use for this "Forum". Free speech it ain't.
