Hi everyone, thanks for letting me be here.
My name is Eddie and im a tyre fitter with a headache lol
Firstly ive taken on the task of replacing the chain on a 1.3 doblo.
Ive done belts and chains before albeit a few years ago however this we van has my head thumpin lol.
When i got the van, which is one of our own but from another branches van, it had complained of lack of power, and cutting out and definate top end rattle around chain casing area. Prevoius mechanic done an oil and filter change about 600miles ago. The van cut out and they decided to then change fuel filter, they got it going but still had no power.. assumption was chain jumped the timing.
I stripped it all down and found the chain guide right side was baroken..
The plastic were in the sump and the chain was guiding on the metal..
As i diding have the correct locking set, i timed cams up roughly using an 8mm allen key and replaced the chain kit etc...
I ordered the kit from ebay which i had to file .5mm off each side to get it to lock the 2 cams, then i found tdc through datum hole on bhousing, and locked it there...
I torqued up crack bolt and cam bolt and continued building up...i did also clean the oil pipe going to chain tensioner and checked for blockage etc...
So with all built back up its running with thankfully no oil or water leaks but still has no power and cuts out..
Other symtoms i can see are that when its first started it starts fairly quickly but when warms up it gets harder to start to the point of a second battery and strain on starter( seen some smoke)
It warms up really quickly, its very hot around turbo ,
It cuts out if any sort of load at all goes on...first test drive never made it out the gate....
No managment lights on
Takes a little longer for oil light to go out but does..
I then guessed maybe a blocked dpf, i loosened it from the turbo and set it back but still same symptons..
My quess is now the turbo but im just not sure if its timed up perfectly...
I torqued the crank and cams with the pins in place....
Is there another hole in flywheel for tge pin to slot in or is it just that 1?
And if i find the timing out am i right in thinking i can reset it without removing front casing again?
Please can anyone who knows these engines give me some insight before loose the plot?
Thanks for reading guys hope u can help
Ed

hi edd, I see nobody's answered so here's my uneducated pennysworth, I have to say honestly I don't like these little fiat engines, I've see soo many problems posted with them. This problem sounds multi faceted and could be many different things, come on experts give ed some help pleease.

This forum section is for new members to introduce themselves. Many forum users don't come here, sticking to their own section, so your post if hiding a little.
However, Doblo is a less frequented section, so may not gain the replies you need either.
Sounds like doom and gloom so far, but no need to cry yet.

Re-post your problem in the Grande Punto section, as I'm guessing they might use the 1.3 diesel most.
Then start a thread in 500 and Panda sections, be brief, and add a link to the post in the Grande section, so directing all potential replies to one thread.

My thoughts are could be turbo wastegate, or might be valves not sealing properly if damaged. I'm hoping you've had the cover off and checked all the valve gear, so should be able to see if all ok.

Find a Haynes manual. If none for Doblo, try the Panda/500 one as that does cover the diesel engine, that will confirm timing settings.
Or download the Fiat manual here https://www.fiatforum.com/downloads.php?do=download&downloadid=451

Good luck.
