Hi everyone, just purchasing my first Fiat ,a sixteen plate Panda cross, the sales man gives me the impression that to transfer the remaining warranty will incur a financial transaction, is this A, true B. Peculiar to Fiat Or C. The way things are with warranty transfers ? Bit miffed having to possibly pay out some more wedge to make sure I will have some extra (may be unnecessary) major failure protection, has anyone else experienced this situation? Thank you in anticipation
Mike .

Never heard of a fee being payable to transfer a 3rd year warranty before. If any dealer asked me for one, I'd tell them to do one.

3rd year warranty transfer for used vehicles is paid for by the Fiat dealer, if non Fiat dealer selling vehicle then up to seller, but should not be paid by purchaser.
Not major wedge, around £30

Thank you all for your replies, i shall use the info to make sure I get a good deal, should be picking the car up next week ,will try and post a couple of piccys .
Looking for a decent set of quality seat covers, anyone recommend a company to deal with? Very difficult to judge by looking at screen pictures, any help much appreciated, thank you.

Bought our 1 year old Panda Trekking TA up north from a Suzuki Dealer, didn't have any queries about warranty when I took it to my local Fiat Dealer in Kent for a service. They said the rear shocks were leaking and I asked them to sort out the squeaky blower fan, all done under warranty. No mention of transferring warranties.

To my knowledge a main dealer would just register warranty online to you, owes them nothing. First 2 years warranty can be claimed off any dealer you choose to take car to. 3rd year warranty allegedly applies to main dealer bought from, and cover not so good as things start to wear out. As Car Care Plan the underwriters, in theory any garage can contact them regarding a claim as my Dad had issue with something non franchise. He got a cheque for around 40% off dealer as goodwill as it was just inside 3 month warranty but wasn't covered.

Looking at a low mile part ex.

Outside of FIAT network..

Hence the question.

Thinking back.. our 2004 panda was similar.

Went to a maindealer for service.
and warranty work was offered easily.. assume they made money on that work.

According to the 'warranty and service' booklet that comes with a new Fiat, at the end of the 24 month unlimited mileage warranty from Fiat, "Fiat will warrant the vehicle for and additional period of 12 months from the date of registration with unlimited mileage.' It goes on to say 'the additional Fiat warranty carries the same terms and conditions as those quoted in this booklet for the vehicle's warranty.' No mention of it being 'a dealer warranty' or of the need to refer to the original dealer to obtain warranty repairs.

I read that to mean that the third year warranty is identical to the first two years... I think the reason why they quote it as a separate 'thing' is because in other parts of the world, they only offer a two year warranty and so need to make it look like the UK's third year is something different.

The book with my 2018 car makes no mention of a 'transfer fee' - after all, it is the car, not its owner, that is being guaranteed - but I am sure with my older (2013) one I did have to fill in something, and there being a £25 fee to pay at the dealer to swap it to me.
