Last year I got my wife a 2008 Fiat 500 1.3MJ sport. its in a rather nice blue shade, everything works etc butI have to keep taking it for a blast down the motorway because she is lucky if she drives 4 miles a day, and then hardly ever above 30mph so I keep getting the DPF error.

So we decided it would make more sense to get her a petrol one instead.

Is it worth considering a purchase or possible swap in the forum or better not? Better to sell it private or trade it in at a loss of course for an alternative petrol version?

What would you do.

Welcome to the forum :)

You might get lucky and find someone here willing to do a swap, pop an ad in the Classifieds, and perhaps a thread in the 500 section.
In the meantime though, have a look around autotrader, etc to see how much cars like her's go for and see how that compares to petrol models to see if you can do a straight swap.

It's worth nothing that, while undoubtedly fun, the Twinair engine is quite highly strung and needs care and attention to keep running sweet. The 1.2 on the other hand is a decades old workhorse and so you can be a bit more lax with the servicing.

thanks for the info. Yeah, I know 4 miles a day aint much, but I cant do much about that, she is small, the 500 is small its a perfect marry (she did have a classic mini cooper before, but rusty or what!)
