I have a 1962 850 ABARTH in my shop. Don't know much about these cars. The alternator in not putting out and I'm not sure what excite the field windings. I have 3 volts on one wire that goes to a small black box above radiator. The second wire tests open and appears to go to the front of the vehicle, I think it would go to charge light. The third wire is the B+ wire and I have battery voltage at that wire. My question is: Can I apply battery to the wire that goes to the front to check if alternator is at fault or it is a wiring problem. Or could a blown bulb be the problem?
