Hi

I have a 2011 Doblo Camper Van and the Heater/AC blower has stopped working. This happened before due to a faulty heater resistor, so after checking all fuses etc were OK I installed a brand new resistor from Fiat Main dealer, but this did not solve the problem.

I know the motor itself is OK as I removed it and bench tested it with a 12V Power Supply to make sure it was running. There is also 12V getting to the resistor in the car as the big heatsink gets hot when the car is running. I also checked the continuity of all the 12V leads in and out with a Mulltimeter and these are also OK.

Any ideas what else I can check? Is there maybe an inline fuse I dont know about or a relay somewhere that might be faulty?

Any advice would be great, as I dont really want to pay a garage £££ if its a simple fix I can do myself.

Thanks

If the resistor is getting hot there is current flowing. This would indicate that either the fan is jammed when installed or there is a short circuit. However either of these would normally blow the fuse. A bad connection is another possibility. Can you measure the voltage across the motor wen it is connected to the car?

Hi thanks for your advice. I checked the voltage which was fine, and that led me to looking more closely at the motor itself. Despite running on a clean 12V bench voltage it was not running whilst in the car. I bought a reconditioned motor on EBay for £34 and it solved the issue. I now have heat and AC again!
