Hello everyone,
I am the official caretaker of my wife's Palio, and as the car is now in the 250k mark, I expect to get very busy soon. We live in Johannesburg, there are plenty of Palios around, the car was assembled here in South Africa, but I haven't found much of a community.
My car is a Lada Niva, adn we have an amazing community for those, always easy to find advice and parts, maybe such a group exists for Palios in South Africa?
The Palio was assembled by Nissan under licence from Fiat. It is a bit of a mess, it's a 2007 year model, but the parts match a 2004 model. Little details, like the brake discs and pads, the 2007 model is a bit smaller, not compatible, ball joints, etc. So now I just remove the parts first and take them to the shop to make sure I get the right part. The most frustrating moment was when I changed the clutch, but the car would not move, the splines were different and I had to remove the gearbox again, and get the right clutch plate.
I am now busy with the engine, I'll look for info in the forum and maybe ask a few questions later today.
Thanks,
Nestor
