HELLO MY NAME IS BOB,
This is my First Post. I have joined the Forum to try to gain some assistance with any potential problems that may arise with my Granddaughters 500 LOUNGE 2013 MODEL, We've just bought her her first car and to say she's in love ! Which is an understatement.
Anyway she's been happily driving around in BELLA ! for 2 weeks now & has just told me that the interior Courtesy Light is not working. So me being me, i get to check it out for her & find straight away that the bulb has blown. I therefore go & buy a packet of 2 new bulbs, install one, No Joy !!! This is where i then get serious. So i make an appointment to see "BELLA", as my granddaughter doesn't like, not being able to be just driving about ! So here i am now armed with my Multi-meter, on removing the light fitting from the roof i find that when checking the continuity of the bulb it's DUD, So no problem i'll just change it VOILA ! all appears to be okay, but when trying the door in the open position, no joy, so i check the rocker switch and when the left (passenger side) of the switch is pressed, it works! but neither the right (drivers side) or central work.
I was then straight onto the interweb to try to find a wiring diagram for the car, but unfortunately cannot find one.
So folks what i'm after is some kind person to be able to provide a wiring diagram, or assist in defining the 3 x wire colours + their respective values.
I would be most grateful for anyone's assistance in this matter.
Best Regards BOB

I will dig out the dia. but firstly when the left side is pressed the light is on constantly, central "flat" position is normal door open and press right side is OFF.
Black wire earth
Red with black stripe looks like constant live
Grey with blue stripe switched earth
Note this is a up to 2012 wiring diagram

Picture, if this is your first Fiat then it may require your skills more, common parts that fail front suspension components, sump, rear shocks, AND boot to tailgate wiring-a pain the the back side, so check all boot lights work, wiper, handle release(not key fob)

With most Fiats these days, if you leave the door open for some time, it cancels the interior light. If you leave the door open while checking, by the time you are ready to test, the body computer may have turned it off. So may need to close the door and reopen it to get some light.
As above, light should be in central position for on with door.

HI JOHN
Many thanks for the information & W/Dia.
Just looking, am i not correct in saying that the wire H/L(grey/blue stripe) is in actual fact a switched live from terminal (9) fuse #32
Regards Bob

Hi portland-bill
Thanks for the Reply.
your comment about the door being open is, very interesting, I will now hopefully get to have a look at "BELLA" n be able to check out the wiring according to both your comment & john 202020's. at least i'm now armed with some further info so will be able to check
1. the wiring colours,
2. voltages according to the W/Dia
3. connections
etc.
The advantages of becoming a member of these online member forums is invaluable. So Again Guys one and all a big thank-you !!
Once i complete my checks i will keep you all posted. CHEERS

No from the diagram I would say the H/L wire is the switched earth, the live feed being permanent via the bcm and fuse 32

Hi john202020
Managed to get 5 minutes with BELLA yesterday !.
On checking the 3 wire terminal ( designated 1,2,3 & N,R/N, & H/L respectively on 45 front interior light )
I did not get 12 v on 3, H/L.
Either key on, key off, door open, door closed then opened & checked immediately.
Would a problem be apparent there do you think ?

Does the light in the boot work as it's fed from the same supply? And or the passenger mirror vanity light where fitted.

Ok terminal 2 r/n red black stripe should be live most of the time , black wire terminal 1 earth, terminal 3 h/l is the switched earth so will read nothing regardless but may show open circuit normally and zero ohms (approx) when the car thinks the door is open.

And yore absolutely sure the "switch" is in the central flat position not pressed right, press it on the right, then one click on the left (light stags off with door closed)
I've noticed when my light goes out there what I can only call a spring ringing noise as it dims to zero is it possible the light controller is faulty?
I suspect there's an issue with the "switched earth" at the other end of the wire.

Hi john
I will check the things that you have mentioned, I do know that the Boot light does work (upper left corner )
I don't know about the passenger mirror vanity light, ( will check )
The light is definitely in the central flat position cos when I push it in left the light works, cancel then go to the central flat position no light, push in right no light, I have not been able to find a switch anywhere around the doors which would enable the switching of the interior light. Is there one that you are aware of ? I'm thinking that there must be something that tells the dash that the front L & or R doors are open ( this is working). I would have thought that the same sensor would be the switch mechanism for the interior light.
A great many thanks are bestowed upon you for all your help in this matter.

That noise is the coil that detects the immobiliser chip in the key.

We don't have switches at the door pillars any more. There are switches in the door locks that detect when a door is open. If the dash warning tells when a door is open, that switch is working, so the light should come on too.

Light in central position is to come on with doors.
