I've just bought a 2011 Grande Punto Evo and am working my way around the controls. The Tom Tom socket seems like a great idea. Is it possible to use this socket to power a DAB or other items?

While the short answer to your question is 'yes', there is nothing off-the-shelf which can be used for this purpose. You can get a standard mount which will fit in the socket and hold devices such as phones, satnavs, etc, but they don't provide any power. You could buy the TomTom mount which does supply power and "Heath Robinson" something to suit your needs, but they're not cheap and it's a lot of money to throw away on something which might not work.
